The Lignum Vitae is the national flower of Jamaica carved from glass in a battery bird style mosaic and sandblasted for a stone carved effect and is sitting prominently as the main pendant. There are both real cowrie trade shells and hand sculpted glass shells, referencing the African trade and bartering systems from the past. Many different colored glass beads were handcrafted and placed around the piece as well as carved glass stars that represent both celestial navigation and Jamaican vernacular “JAH KNOW STAR” …More glass lignum vitae flowers were also sculpted in Mackksaray’s painting style and placed around the piece making it the most unique and captivating piece in the collection.
